Forex and gold profit calculator
Work out what a trade made or would make between two prices, also as a share of your account and as a multiple of the risk you took.
How to use it
- Pick the instrument, buy or sell, and the lot size.
- Enter the entry and the exit (or the target) price.
- Add the stop and the balance to see the result as R and as a % of the account.
Worked example
Buy 1 lot of EUR/USD at 1.1600 and sell at 1.1650: 50 pips × 10 USD = +500 USD, 10 % of a 5,000 USD account. With the stop at 1.1575 (25 pips) the trade made 2 R.
The formula
Profit = (exit − entry) × direction × contract size × lots × USD per quote unit
Questions
How much is 1 lot of gold profit per $1?
With 100 ounces per lot, each $1 move is 100 USD per lot; 0.10 lots make 10 USD per $1.
Does the calculator include swaps and commission?
No. Subtract your broker's commission and overnight swap for the exact net result.
Why show R?
R compares the result with the risk taken, so trades of different sizes can be compared fairly.
