Your account is in dollars but you think in rupees or riyals. Enter the balance in your own money, the risk and the stop in dollars of gold price: the calculator gives the lots and shows the risk and the profit in both currencies.

Your currency: PKR. Set today's rate above; AED and SAR are pegged to the dollar.

How to use it

  1. Choose your currency and check today's rate (the PKR and INR rates move every day).
  2. Enter your balance in that currency and the % you accept to lose.
  3. Enter the stop and the target as dollars of gold price, for example a $5 stop from 4,100 to 4,095.

Worked example

Balance 300,000 PKR at 280 PKR per dollar, risk 1 % = 3,000 PKR = 10.71 USD. A $5 stop costs 500 USD per lot, so 10.71 ÷ 500 = 0.021, rounded down to 0.02 lots. A $10 target then makes 20 USD = 5,600 PKR.

The formula

Lots = (balance × risk % ÷ rate) ÷ (stop in $ × ounces per lot); profit = target × ounces × lots × rate

Questions

How much is 0.01 lot of gold per $1?

0.01 lots is 1 ounce, so each $1 move in gold is 1 USD: about 280 PKR, 88 INR, 3.67 AED or 3.75 SAR.

What lot size for 100,000 PKR in gold?

At 1 % risk (1,000 PKR ≈ 3.57 USD) and a $3 stop, 3.57 ÷ 300 = 0.01 lots. With a wider stop the risk is above 1 %, so skip or reduce.

Why do gold lots differ between brokers?

Most use 100 ounces per lot, some 10 or 1. Change 'Ounces per lot' to your broker's contract size.
