ICC Chart Challenge: a Free ICT Trading Game on Real Charts
Reading about fair value gaps and order blocks is one thing; finding them quickly on a live chart is another. The ICC Chart Challenge is a free game that trains exactly that, one real chart at a time, with a daily challenge, a weekly leaderboard and free plan days for the best players.
What the Chart Challenge is
The Chart Challenge is a browser game made by the ICC Charts team, our sister product for charts and ICT-style education. Each round shows you a real candlestick chart and asks one question: which box is the fair value gap, which candle is the order block, which high or low was swept, or whether price will be higher or lower a few candles later. You answer, the hidden candles play out, and the chart marks the correct answer with a short explanation.
Why practise on past charts
Most traders learn ICT concepts from videos and then try to spot them in real time, with money on the line. That is a slow and expensive way to build pattern recognition. A game turns it into short, repeatable drills:
- Instant feedback. You find out within seconds whether your eye was right, and why.
- Clear rules. The answers come from the same rule-based detectors that draw the ICT layers in the ICC Charts terminal, so a gap or an order block only counts when it follows the written definition.
- Real markets. The charts are past candles of gold, silver, Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana on 15-minute, 1-hour and 4-hour timeframes. The market and date are revealed after you answer.
- No risk. Nothing is bought or sold. A wrong answer costs you points, not money.
How to start
- Open the game at chart.iccterminal.trade/game on your phone or computer. It runs in the browser and inside the ICC Charts apps.
- Create your free ICC Charts account with email, Google or Facebook. If you are already signed in to the ICC Charts terminal, you are signed in to the game too.
- Play today's Daily Challenge first, or pick a practice mode. A short how-to-play screen appears on your first visit, and the question-mark button brings it back.
- Answer before the clock runs out: tap the right box or level on the chart, or use the answer buttons. On a keyboard, 1–4 or A–D answer and the arrow keys mean higher or lower.
The game modes
| Mode | What you do | Charts |
|---|---|---|
| Daily Challenge | Five charts, the same for every player that day: a fair value gap, an order block, a sweep, a direction call and a bonus chart. One try per day. | 5 |
| ICT Zone Hunter | A mix of fair value gaps, order blocks and liquidity sweeps. | 10 |
| Next Move | Will price be higher or lower than the last close 10 candles from now? | 10 |
| FVG, order block and sweep practice | One concept at a time, for focused drills. | 8 each |
What each question tests
Fair value gap
A fair value gap is a three-candle imbalance. In a bullish gap the high of the first candle stays below the low of the third, leaving a space the middle candle moved through without overlap; a bearish gap is the mirror image. The wrong boxes in the game sit on candles that overlap, so the skill is seeing where the wicks really leave a hole.
Order block
The chart marks a break or shift in structure. You pick the candle that started it: for a move up, the last down-close candle before the break; for a move down, the last up-close candle.
Liquidity sweep
Stop orders cluster above old highs and below old lows. A sweep is price trading beyond one of those levels and then closing back on the other side within a few candles. You choose which level was taken.
Next Move
A plain direction call. Only charts where price later moved at least one average candle range are used, so every question has a real answer, but it is still the hardest mode: calling direction is difficult for everyone.
Points, streaks and levels
- 100 points for every right answer.
- Speed bonus of up to 50 points: the quicker the answer, the bigger the bonus.
- Streak bonus of 10 points for each right answer in a row, up to 50.
- No points for a wrong answer or when the clock runs out (30 seconds, 20 for Next Move).
Points also count as experience. Your level rises as experience grows, with ranks from Rookie up to Market maker, and finishing the Daily Challenge on consecutive days builds your streak. After a game you can share a picture of your result to WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram.
Daily Challenge, leaderboard and weekly prizes
The trophy button opens three leaderboards:
- Today ranks today's Daily Challenge.
- This week adds up each player's Daily Challenge points from Monday to Sunday (UTC). This is the prize table.
- All time adds up the points of every game you play.
Pick a nickname to appear on the boards. Every week the top players win free ICC Charts plan days. Prizes are plan days only, never money, and there is nothing to pay to take part. Because the weekly table counts only the Daily Challenge, playing every day matters more than playing many games in one sitting.
How it fits with COT and CME flow
ICC Terminal answers the slower question: who is positioned where. The COT report and CME open interest show whether funds and hedgers lean long or short in gold, currencies or indices. The ICT concepts in the game work on the chart itself: where price left an imbalance, which candle launched a move, which stops were just taken. Many traders combine the two, using positioning for the bias and the chart for the timing. The game is a low-pressure way to sharpen the chart-reading half.
