What it means for AUDUSD
AUDUSD is quoted the same way as the future: a net long in AUD futures is a position for a stronger Aussie dollar against the US dollar, a net short a position for a weaker one.
The Australian dollar trades as a stand-in for Chinese demand and metal prices. Speculators' position often moves with iron ore, copper and global risk appetite more than with Australian data alone, so it is worth reading next to the copper COT report.
When the next report comes out
The CFTC publishes on Friday at 3:30 pm New York time (Fri 6 Nov): that is Sat 7 Nov, 1:30 AM PKT in Pakistan and Sat 7 Nov, 2:00 AM IST in India. The positions it shows are from the Tuesday before.

Questions
Why does the AUD position follow commodities?
Australia exports iron ore, coal, gas and gold, and China is its largest customer. When those prices or China's outlook change, speculators adjust their Aussie dollar position with them.
Can the AUD COT report be used for NZDUSD?
Only as background. The two often move together, but the New Zealand dollar has its own rates and exports; check its own page for its position.
Where do the Aussie dollar numbers come from?
CME Australian dollar futures, 100,000 Australian dollars per contract, from the CFTC legacy futures-only report: the non-commercial long and short positions.
