Crypto tax calculator India: 30 % + 4 % cess, 1 % TDS
Enter what you paid and what you sold for: the tax, the cess, the TDS already deducted and what is left.
The rules (as of 27 October 2026)
- 30 % tax on gains from virtual digital assets, plus 4 % health and education cess on the tax (31.2 % in all), whatever your income slab. A surcharge can apply on high incomes.
- Only the cost of acquisition is deductible: no expenses, fees or the basic exemption.
- A loss cannot be set off against other gains or income, and cannot be carried forward.
- 1 % TDS on the sale value when your yearly crypto sales pass ₹10,000 (₹50,000 for specified persons such as many individuals); the TDS is credited against your tax.
Budget 2026 kept these rules. The Income-tax Act, 2025 (from 1 April 2026) renumbers the sections (formerly 115BBH and 194S); check the latest notification or a tax adviser before you file.
Worked example
Bought for ₹1,00,000, sold for ₹1,50,000: gain ₹50,000. Tax 30 % = ₹15,000, cess 4 % = ₹600: ₹15,600. 1 % TDS (₹1,500) was already deducted on the sale and counts towards it.
