PMEX Gold Trading Guide: Read the Big Money Behind Your Trade
PMEX gold moves with the world gold price, and the world gold price is moved by banks and funds trading on CME. Here is how a Pakistani trader can see what that big money is doing — and use it on PMEX.
Why PMEX traders should look at CME
The Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) lets you trade gold, silver, crude oil, US stock indices and currency pairs in rupees. These contracts follow international prices. But PMEX itself publishes only traded value and lots — there is no open interest and no positions report. You cannot see who is building longs or shorts on PMEX.
The money that actually moves the gold price trades on COMEX/CME in the United States, and there the regulator (CFTC) publishes the Commitments of Traders report every week, while CME publishes daily volume and open interest. So the smart move is to read the same underlying on CME and trade the matching PMEX contract.

What to read for gold
- COT (weekly): the net position of large speculators (funds) in gold and the COT index 0–100%. Rising and high = funds building longs; falling and low = funds reducing or going short.
- CME Flow (daily): price + open interest for each session — New Buying, Short Covering, New Shorting or Long Liquidation — and the 5-Day Bias. See open interest + price action.
- OI + Price Action: candles with the flow of every session, so you see who was behind each move.
- 1-Click Analyzer: everything above for
GC_GOLDturned into BUY % / SELL % with the reasons.
Why gold reacts to the dollar and US rates
International gold is priced in US dollars and pays no interest. When US interest rates rise or the dollar strengthens, holding gold becomes less attractive for many funds, and the COT data often shows speculators cutting longs. When rates are expected to fall, funds usually rebuild them. You do not need to forecast the Federal Reserve: the weekly COT change and the daily CME flow already show how the big money is reacting to the news.
For a PMEX trader there is a second layer: the rupee. PMEX gold in rupees can rise even when international gold is flat, simply because USD/PKR went up. Separate the two moves before you decide whether the trade idea is about gold or about the currency.
An example routine for PMEX gold
- In Pakistan Markets, PMEX Gold points to Gold (
GC_GOLD). - Open COT and choose
GC_GOLD: is the COT index high or low, and did funds add or cut longs this week? - Open CME Flow: were the last sessions New Buying (green) or New Shorting (red)? What does the 5-Day Bias say?
- If the weekly COT and the daily flow agree, look for trades in that direction on PMEX gold at your own levels. If they disagree, wait or trade smaller.
- Check USD/PKR on the same page: PMEX gold is priced in rupees, so a sharp rupee move changes your local price too.
- Always place a stop-loss — PMEX contracts are leveraged.

FAQ
Does PMEX publish open interest or a COT report?
No. PMEX publishes traded value and lots, but no open interest and no positions report. That data exists for the same underlying on CME, reported by the CFTC.
Is the PMEX gold price the same as international gold?
PMEX gold follows the international gold price, but contract sizes, fees, rupee conversion and trading hours differ. Use the international data for direction and PMEX for your own entry price.
Is the PMEX map free on ICC Terminal?
Yes. Pakistan Markets, with USD/PKR, the KSE-100 links and the PMEX to ICC market map, is free for everyone. COT details, CME daily flow and OI + Price Action are part of the VIP plan.
